The island is a delight for walkers with the Garajonay National Park - a laurisilver rainforest and a Unesco World Heritage Site in the centre, from which deep palm tree filled barancos/ valleys radiate out to the coast, with its spectacular cliffs and pebble or black sandy beaches.
