Local Area
The beautiful fishing village of Alvor, the lively tourist resort of Praia da Rocha, and the bustling town of Portimao are all within a 5-10 minute drive of the villa. Portimao is particularly well known for its shopping and grilled sardine restaurants by the river Arade, while Praia da Rocha is famed for its beautiful mile-long beach and lively nightlife. Alvor caters for those seeking a more quiet evening out, with plenty of cosy restaurants and cafes. Further a field to the north of Portimao, visitors can explore the mountains of Monchique including the spa village of Caldas de Monchique, and to the west the picturesque town of Lagos and the beautiful unspoilt western coast of Portugal. To the east of Portimao lie the more heavily developed towns of the Algarve such as Albufeira and Vilamoura where visitors can find plenty of modern attractions such as waterslide parks, a sea-life zoo, large shopping malls and numerous golf-courses. Due to the excellent transport links of the Algarve, most attractions are less than an hours drive from the villa.
