Unlike the UK, Bulgaria is a very inexpensive place to live and therefore would make an ideal place to retire to. Bulgaria is a country of outstanding natural beauty and there is a laid back pace of life (particularly in the villages). All over Bulgaria and in particular the mountains, the air is fresh and unpolluted and is renowned for its eco environment.

Petrol is notably much cheaper than in the UK due to lower state taxes. Council tax can typically be approximately £100 per year, not per month! All commodities are much lower in cost and a car would typically cost around £3000 less than in the UK.

As large parts of Bulgaria remain undeveloped and are used for agriculture land the local produce is of a high standard. Bulgaria is also a well-known wine producing country.

Eating out is inexpensive and a typical main course meal and 2/3 large beers would cost about £3.50, which gives a good indication of how cheap it is to live in Bulgaria.

Many British people have already 'taken the plunge' and permanently moved to Bulgaria. There is already a growing British community in Bulgaria.About the area:The Bulgarian people consider it one of the most popular holiday destinations. With it's unspoilt character, peaceful surroundings and the meandering Beli Vit River running through the village, it has a most beautiful appeal and charm. An old Roman Bridge that is still in use today crosses the river.

At night Ribaritsa comes to life with the many village restaurants offering delicious food and drink and many with live traditional Bulgarian music creating a great atmosphere.

As you enter the village, you can see the sculpture of a 'River Boy', the symbol of Ribaritsa.

Bus links are available to all the major towns in the area such as the next village Teteven, Troyan to the east and Lovech to the north.

The nearby village of Teteven offers many additional attractions. Nearby you will find the beautiful Koznitsa Waterfall and Sinyoto Kolelo (the Blue Wheel). There are also many mysterious caverns in the area.

The area around Lovech has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Some of the most interesting Neolithic finds from the Bulgarian lands have been discovered in the Devetashka cave, 24 km from Lovech.

Two nature reserves are in the area with the Boatin and Tsarichina Nature Reserves being part of the Central Balkan Mountains National Park. The region also boasts the broadest beech forest belt in Bulgaria, in which there are protected species such as fox, bear and deer.

The area is also popular for traditional crafts such as woodcarving, turnery, saddlery, ironmongery, weaving and jewellery making.

There are also many old monasteries in the area, notably the Glogen Monastery built in the 13th Century.

Transfer time from Sofia airport approx 1 hour 30 minutes.

There are superb views along the way.

Basically everything will be included although my lawyer and accountant may wish to determine a price for the Villa and a price for the furniture etc, to be agreed between the purchasers and the seller at a later date.
