Denia Castle One of the most visited tourist attractions of Denia is the Castillo (castle). The castle built in the 11th and 12th century offers a wonderful view around the sea, the city and the back lands. Within the castle you will find the Palau del Governador with its museum. Along with the other interesting museums in Denia, the Museo Etnologico will give you further details on the rich history and culture of Denia. Culture The bonfire/fallas festival is celebrated each March. Huge paper mache statues, called fallas are set up throughout the town, and then set ablaze. The Bous a la Mar (meaning "Bulls at the Sea") is held in July. The highlight of this week long festival is watching bulls run down the main street Marques de Campo, only to be chased into the Mediterranean Sea by those daring enough to enter a makeshift bull ring with them. Horse Riding La Sella horse riding school has nine horses and offers riding for children and adults at all levels making it a great place for the family. The La Sella horse riding package also offers hacks through the valley passing through the woods, riding up hills and through green pastures. More experienced riders usually enjoy a faster paced hack and through the wonderful routes with paths for both cantering and galloping. Guests can choose from a one-hour hack up to a half-day excursion. Beaches Denia on the Costa Blanca in Spain features more than 300 days of sunshine a year. With an average temperature of 20 degrees there is no better place to be than the 20 km of seafront. The beaches go from the sandy beach in the centre of Denia to the more rocky coves and bays between the cliffs. Because of the length of the beaches in Denia they never get overcrowded. Popular family beaches with the European blue flag for quality and cleanness are Les Deveses Les Marines, Les Bovetes and Els Palmars. All patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months. These beaches are also equipped with foot showers, sunbeds and sunshades to hire. The seafront is served by a long line of beach bars and restaurants of every price category so when the going gets tough you have somewhere to go to cool down. During July and August it can get up to steamy 40 degrees here!! All sorts of beach activities are available, dinghies and pedaloes as well as sailboats to hire. Set back from the sea there are volleyball nets. The clean and clear waters make it a perfect place for scuba diving. Denia Golf- La Sella Spanish world class golfer Jose Maria Olazabal designed La Sella close to La Jara, Jesus Pobre and Denia. Designed in 1990 it offers a demanding 18 hole golf course and a driving range with over 20 bays. Directions - Leave at exit 62 of the autopista AP-7 and head in direction towards Denia and take a right to La Xara and Jesus Pobre.
